On the road at 0756 and heading
for the highway north. The day has dawned
clear and bright but the forecast was for occasional showers. Today we are headed for another naturist venue
we haven't been to. We'll meet people we
haven't met.
Bruce and Julie are between
places at the moment. They are just back
from Noonamah where they have been setting up another venue. Now that’s a bit far for us to go … maybe one
day.
We make good time and are driving
up the main road to Carters Ridge in no time.
We miss the turn and have to do a u-turn and make our way back quickly. After turning into this street, we need to
take the next left and follow it to the end.
The middle right hand side mail box is the driveway we need to
take. It turns sharply and then descends
quickly. Glenn puts the Ute in 4WD as we
are slipping on the loose gravel.
Bruce comes into view and we stop
to greet him. We park the Ute and
inspect the site on foot deciding that the highest of the sites is the best for
us. It has a nice view down the valley
and is large and easy to reverse into.
We chat for a few minutes with Bruce and Julie, before I realise that
the dogs are still in the ute and we need to let them out. Julie takes a liking to Kiah straight away.
Bruce helps Glenn get the position
right for the camper and leaves us to set up. At lunch time they will be going
out for a few hours. They have a golf
day to attend across from where we turned off the road.
Since we are now alone, we
inspect the site thoroughly and take a walk around the perimeter – which is
easy to do here as trees abound.
We
check out the dam for doggie swimming, the toilet block, the day use van …
everything. When we have nothing left to
inspect, we retreat to the cool of the awning for a well earned drink.
So now we have had showers and
the fire is lit. I have prepared the fish
and prawns and we are awaiting some coals.
Glenn has to prepare the chips and cook them. Dinner is well awaited as we have had no
lunch.
As the area is very dry, we pour
buckets of dam water over the ground around the OzPig.
I wish that our hosts were here
to have a chat around the fire. Glenn
says that they are coming down the hill, but then he says he was just joking
and they aren't driving down the hill! I
can hear a whipper snipper going full pelt so the neighbour is working now the
heat has dissipated. A cattle dog has
been barking in the background today, but i like it as it's natural and therefore
not annoying.
The ablution block is very nice. The shower is a bit small but it could just
be because the shower head is so large. It’s
very clean and everything you need is there.
We find there is a possum living
in a tree right near us and I wonder if it is going to raid the bin through the
night. Hope not.
By 2000 we are asleep in
bed.

Today we started early 0715 due
to a noisy neighbour who thought it would be a good idea to use some heavy
earth moving equipment for a few hours. Glenn
says he’s cleaning out his shed. So I
make coffee quietly as I don't know if our hosts are awake. They got in after 8 last night and were nice
and quiet. Don’t want to wake them up.
Breakfast is a slow affair that
takes more than an hour or so, then our hosts wake and Bruce comes out to water
the passion fruit. He eventually comes
over for a chat before they head back to the golf club to clean up from last
night.
We do the dishes and then take
another walk and swim the dog in the dam once more. Tan Magazine has an article about the nude
golf day at Proston which we read and I take a photograph for the oldies who
are finding it hard to believe that such a thing would happen so close to where
they live. I’m sure they believe I was
pulling their legs when I told them.
I've taken some photos of a
spider in a hole under our awning and it comes in and out periodically to sit
near the surface. It has big beady eyes. Checked out the spa yesterday and noted that it’s
leaking. It would have been nice to take
a dip but easier to have a quick shower or just go under the hose and much
cooler too.
We find a missing ball from
yesterday. Glenn is now throwing the Frisbee
once more for Telashi.
Lots of king parrots and other
birds here. They aren't shy either. I’ve borrowed some bird seed from the day van
to entice them in a bit more. Today they
aren't so keen though. Yesterday one
nearly landed on me and gave me a fright as I wasn’t expecting it to fly at me. I do get a cheeky up close photo of the large bird though before it flies off to follow it's partner down to the bird feeder.
After a few hours we start our
pack up and before we go, Bruce and Julie return to farewell us and give Glenn
directions on the best way to attack our exit.
Bruce gets a bit cheeky with me, saying he hoped that I would be naked
when we said goodbye so he could get in a cuddle!
We say our goodbyes and return to
the highway and an rather uneventful trip home.
I must say that these weekends do
go by far too quickly for my liking.
